League Rules
General Rules
- 25-min halves
- Subs on the fly
- No slide tackles
- No offsides
- No watches
- Shinguards are required
- Yellow card = sit out for 5 minutes
- Red card = done for the game + potentially additional suspensions
- Please be sober. If you come to the game drunk or under the influence of any substances, you will not be allowed to play.
- If a GK is not present for your team, please rotate GK responsibilities.
- Fighting and/or pursuing/addressing another player/attendee/referee in a hostile manner is strictly prohibited. GoSoccer can remove your playing privilege without refunds when deemed necessary.
Playing Time
Please be mindful of your playing time. Each player has paid an equal amount to play in the league. No player wants to sit on the sidelines the entire time. Every player should sub at least once per half. Team captains may pull you from the game to ensure all players get equal playing time.
Jersey Requirement
The home team shall be Blue. The away team shall be White.
If you are new to the league, we will distribute a set of league T-shirts as a welcome gift to you by game #2.
Referees
Please respect the referee's decisions. This is a reminder that GoSoccer is a rec league, not the World Cup. If you have questions during the game, please get in touch with your captain so they may ask the game officials.
There has been a severe shortage of referees in the last several years, and many high school and youth games have been canceled. Our officials are grassroots community referees. Please show respect and appreciation even if they make mistakes.

Game Parity
GoSoccer captains create the teams 3-4 days before the first game. When completing team assignments, the captains consider each player's ratings, requested groupings, and preferred positions. Player ratings are updated at the end of each season. Team assignments may change after the 1st game for game parity purposes.
Disciplinary Action
The referees give players yellow and red cards at their discretion. A player who receives a yellow card must be subbed and benched for five minutes. If the yellow-carded player's team does not have another sub, then the team must play short for five minutes. A player who receives a red card must not return to the bench and must leave the facility. Referees shall report all disciplinary actions to the GoSoccer admin. A player who receives two red cards in the same season will be suspended for the remainder of the season. The GoSoccer admin may assess further disciplinary action depending on the severity of the situation, up to the termination of the player's account and his/her future eligibility to participate in the GoSoccer program.
Waiver
By participating, you acknowledge that soccer is a physical sport and that injuries may occur. You agree not to hold Go Soccer representatives (captains, referees, or administrators) or Go Soccer LLC responsible for injuries you sustain on the field.
Ambulance Policy
If you are injured, you may decide to return to the game or leave the game. Unfortunately, GoSoccer cannot guarantee refunds due to player injury. If a captain feels you are too injured to keep playing, your captain may remove you from the game and may, if the captain deems it appropriate, call 911. If trained EMTs are involved in responding to your injury, they will determine your medical condition. If their evaluation recommends that you go to the hospital or seek immediate medical attention, you cannot rejoin the game. You acknowledge that neither GoSoccer nor any GoSoccer participants or representatives of GoSoccer are responsible for taking you to a hospital. If someone volunteers to take you, or if you, as a healthy GoSoccer game participant, volunteer to take an injured player, that is solely the driver's decision. GoSoccer assumes no responsibility for the trip or actions/events related to it.
Registration & Cancellation
To participate, all players must agree to these GoSoccer game rules. Players will not be counted as registered until they have paid the full participation fee. There will be no refund if cancellation is requested within two weeks of the first game's kickoff.
A refund is only processed for team registrations if the team slot is filled by another team on the waitlist.
Use of Non-Rostered Players
The captain shall facilitate the teams' well-being and attendance. Teams must field only players who are officially listed on their roster.
Exceptions
In regular-season games, if a team does not have enough rostered players to field a team or to have any substitutes, they may use non-rostered players under the following conditions:
- The non-rostered player must be a registered league participant who is already playing on the same night of the league. i.e., Only a Tuesday night league player may sub for a Tuesday night team.
- The non-rostered player is to participate as a GK.
- The non-rostered player is a league captain designated by the league organization.
Any team found to have used an ineligible non-rostered player outside of this exception will automatically forfeit the match. The result will be recorded as a 0-3 loss for the offending team.
